In Dance Academy at least half the cast is female with the protagonist being female as well. The movie centres around a friendship group of dancers and the often discuss their aspirations and coming to terms with their goals and finding happiness and how their definition of happiness may change overtime. All female characters are individuals with varied traits and personalities providing a more holistic look at women and humans and their interactions.
