Do documentary shorts qualify for this list? The primary focus of this film is a doctor who is a woman and the paths of two terminal patients, both women. The doctor talks to the one conscious patient as well as both patients' families and other medical professionals, many of them women. All of the conversations discuss end of life care for the patients. The storyline does not depend on the gender of the people in it. Extremis is a powerful, respectful, intimate and incredibly well made film about the modern human experience of mortality.
