Beautiful, generous, middle-aged Marguerite desperately wants to become an opera star, despite her outrageously bad voice. She hires the best coaches, funds young women singers, funds benefit concerts - and her own disastrous stage debut, all from her magnificent estate outside Paris in the 1920's. And yet the film mocks her painfully. Careful watching this one if you suffer from 'impostor syndrome'.
