The protagonist, Kim (Tina Fey) talks to a fellow Afghanistan journalist, Tanya (Margot Robbie) about Afghanistan, story leads, the local nightlife, moves they make in their careers, and more. They talk a lot about men, but also about other things. Kim also talks to a Lebanese journalist, Shakira (Shakira Khar) about her name, and to her boss, Geri (Cherry Jones) about her assignment in Afghanistan and what's best for their network. This is at times a very male-dominated movie — it's mostly set in a society where the women are kept behind closed doors and most of the on-site journalists are men — but it passes the test well, and meaningfully.
