There's a great analysisof the film by Britt Hayes titled: "The Value of Depicting Rape In Abstract". She writes: "[Sicario] is, essentially, the best film about sexual assault that features no actual sexual assault. Instead, Villeneuve brilliantly uses the idea of rape in abstract, the entirety of Sicario permeates with that specific feeling of helplessness, despair, and suffocation"

Adam, that is the most preposterous thing I've ever read.

Sicario creates the perfect female protagonist for men. She is relenting, she is physically attractive, and she doesn't ask questions. There is no feminine rage to be found in this movie. Every time I start to give this movie the benefit of the doubt and think, maybe I read it wrong, maybe there's something deeper here that I'm missing-- I remember Emily Blunt had to deny a nude scene.

Cj, Emily Blunt comes across as a hypocrite given Oppenheimer nude scene. I disagree that her Sicario character is written for men. Its an audiance surrogate, who's kept in dark till the plot reveals. Actually most men hate her character and I as a women understood her frustration, anger, and utter devastation at the end. Ambious, naive, career women with morality gets used all the time. Film is about cycle of violence and whether any legal or illegal operations amount to anything when it comes to that war.
