Although the main characters are a male and female, I would say that the large majority of the supporting cast are females. Tessa (the main character) interacts with her best friend (mostly to do with her boyfriend but also to do with their education) her step mum (about their mother-daughter relationship), the doctor and a patient that introduces Tessa to the concept of the afterlife. The plot may be to do with the main character trying to reunite with her deceased boyfriend, (afterall it is a love story) but a lot of the female characters have an interest and conversation with each other outside the male character.
